Entry into Confined Spaces with Full Working Breathing Apparatus

This training course is designed for any individuals who may enter a confined space with full working breathing apparatus and those who assist with confined space operations.  It will provide delegates with a thorough understanding of legislation and the dangers of confined spaces, and to enable them to enter, work and leave confined spaces including vertical shafts using full working breathing apparatus.

Upon completion of the course, delegates will be competent in the following:-

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the legal requirements surrounding confined space operations.
  • Identify a confined space and its reasonable foreseeable risks.
  • Implement control measures to either eliminate or reduce the potential risks.
  • Organising and implementing appropriate accident and emergency procedures.
  • Identify the wide range of confined space safety equipment and its uses.
  • The safe use and maintenance of full working breathing apparatus.
  • Select appropriate methods of risk control.
  • Conduct an entry into a confined space using escape and full working breathing apparatus and appropriate ancillary safety equipment, in a safe and efficient manner.


Delegates who successfully complete this course will receive a card and a certificate.  These are both valid for 3 years.
